Ah, College Admissions. Welcome to the center of stress and pain. Nothing to worry about. All you are deciding is what colors your baby will be wearing.
Be Aware of Your Information Many of these sites will ask you to be a "free member." While this is all well and good, these sites may sell your information and you may get spammed. If you don't want a lot of junk mail, junk e-mail, or phone calls, be wary of putting down...correct information.
College Sites These sites list all of the colleges out there. This can be a nice starting point.
- College Net This is a great site. All of the colleges are linked here, along with their applications.
- All of the Colleges This is a very plain site, that has links to all of the colleges in the country.
- US News and World Report Love it or hate it, the US News Rankings have become a fact of life. This site goes far deeper than the rankings and offers a ton of services.
- College Tours Great site for Nantucketers. This offers on-line tours and web cams from a ton of colleges. Look at the college before going there.
Applying Yourself The stuff you need for college
- College Help from Pros the NACAC is the National Association of College Counselors and they have to know their stuff. These are their web resources. Brace yourself for some jargon, but it is a very effective site.
- The College Board SAT application, practice and all that. You can apply on-line to college here.
- EmbarkEverybody likes this, but it smells a little corporate. College applications and advice.

- Washington Post on Admissions Now A great, to the point piece on admissions.
- College Apps.com A truly ugly web site. However, nice tips and great sample essays.
- Essay Edge These guys are trying to sell you something, however, they do have a great collection of sample college essays. Avoid the
sell (Harvard Editors!!!!)
- College Essay This is a truly amusing college essay. For all of you Supermarket workers, read this.
